This summer, Alex and I had a great opportunity to go and teach English in Poland for 5 1/2 weeks-we actually taught for only three and toured the rest. It was amazing! It was such a neat experience-even though I took a million pictures while I was there, here are some of my favorites!
Our first full day in Krakow!
Krakow at night-beautiful!!
Zakopane-our favorite city! This is on our train ride leaving to go to camp. It's so beautiful!!
Halloween dance!!! Ninja Turtles-we were quite a hit!
Gdansk-we just loved this city too! It was so colorful! The first shots of WWII were fired here.
Some of the students we met were so musically talented! I got this first one of one of my students playing the piano-Alex got the second one of the guitar! I love it! One of my favorite moments was when it started pouring one night and all the kids were dancing in the rain. I got tons of pictures-actually some of my favorites!(but can't share them because of privacy issues)so sad!
These two photos were from Auschwitz-Berkenau-this was where they brought the prisoners in on the train. Being there was one of the most surreal experiences I've ever had. There were flowers and memorials put up everywhere. Of course everyone reads about the Holocaust and what happened-but it completely changes once you actually walk around where so many were tortured and murdered just because of their race or religion. You seriously leave there changed.
Torun! Copernicus was born here.
I just love this picture :)
This was the view from our dorm in Tczew-I saw three rainbows while we were there and they were all magnificent!
